“Tough weeks”- Chelsea ace admits to being impacted by goalscoring woes

Chelsea star Kai Havertz admits suffering due to his goal drought

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has been chastened for not scoring more goals and the German player has been vocal about this as he felt off for “weeks and months” after that.

Havertz scored in both of Chelsea’s most recent matches, which were against Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City. His goal against Leicester was his first Premier League strike since January and could not have come at a better time.

Since moving to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in a £72 million transfer in the summer of 2020, it was only his 18th Premier League goal, a record that has come under criticism.

But now that Chelsea seems to be in better form, Havertz’s form is also coincidental with Chelsea’s, which is positive for the club. The team has been without a natural goal scorer, which has been further compounded by the German International’s failure to score goals on a regular basis. It has served as a message to the Blues that they will need a striker in the upcoming campaign.

Quoted by the Evening Standard (h/t Mirror), Havertz discussed how his lack of consistency in front of the goal has affected him, saying:

“Football is our life.” “If you lose a game, of course you don’t have an easy life. I think everyone at home, especially my girlfriend, has had some tough weeks as well the last few weeks and months.”

It’s undeniable that when players don’t perform effectively, it affects both them and their families. As fans we sometimes are not aware of the immense pressure on the stars we idolize as they strive to do their best and meet expectations on the field.

Their families are also affected by their poor form, as they see that they receive criticism on social media or during the match. And we always keep high expectations of players and expect them to perform at their peak level in every game, which is not the reality.

Players should be candid about their mental health since this will raise awareness of the issue and encourage others to show support. It is encouraging that Havertz has scored in his previous two games, and we hope that this will drive him to keep up his form this season.
