Transfer News: Manchester United and Liverpool have entered the race to sign Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool have entered the race to sign Chelsea target and Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko, according to a report in The Times (h/t Mirror).

The 18-year-old has caught the eyes of a host of top clubs with his performance for the Bundesliga giants. A regular for the German club at such a young age, the forward also became the youngest player ever to feature for Germany at a World Cup.

All three teams are expected to enter the market next month to reinforce their attack. United need a new forward after terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract last month, while Luis Diaz’s injury setback could force the Reds to look for alternate options.

Chelsea sees young academy graduate Armando Broja out for the rest of the season after the Albanian sustained an ACL injury during the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in a friendly last week. This leaves Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the only recognised striker on the team.

Moukoko has been in fine form this season for the Black and Yellow. The 18-year-old has scored six goals in 14 league appearances and has been a regular for the club. The striker sees his current contract expire at the end of this season, although the Bundesliga club hopes he will sign a new deal.

The west London club are rebuilding and need young players to help build a new era of success at the BridgeAubameyang is 33 and cannot be considered the future of the club. Moukoko has shown his talent and potential and is only 18, making him one of the best players to make a move for.

Should he not sign a new deal, he could be available for a cut-fee price which could prove to be a bargain for the west London club. But they will face tough competition from their rival clubs and have to convince the youngster to make a move, who has no desire to sit on the bench elsewhere.
