Chelsea handed Moukoko boost as player’s agent provides fresh update

Transfer News: Agent of Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko denies new Borussia Dortmund deal

The agent of Chelsea transfer target Youssoufa Moukoko, Patrick Williams has denied any claims over a new deal being struck with Borussia Dortmund. The striker sees his current contract expire next summer.

Dortmund are keen to tie down the youngster to a new deal, but negotiations look to have stalled. Chelsea are believed to be leading the race for his signature, but face tough competition from Liverpool and Manchester United for the same.

Now, Moukoko’s agent Williams while speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Football. London), denied claims that the German club and the player were close to agreeing to a new deal.

“I can confirm that we are not yet about to sign a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund. I can also assure you that the numbers that are circulating are simply not correct and Youssoufa was never offered that way. But we are still in contact with Borussia Dortmund and will see what the next few days bring.”

Such words will come as a boost to the Blues and Graham Potter who is seeking to add reinforcements to his attack next month. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has failed to live up to the expectations so far, while Armando Broja has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.

Moukoko has been enjoying a fantastic season with the Black & Yellow so far. The 18-year-old has scored six times in 14 league appearances for the Bundesliga side, while he was also named in the German squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Aubameyang is 33 and cannot be considered the long-term solution for the club. Young players are needed who can establish themselves in the team going forward, and the 18-year-old German fits such a bill.

Should he not sign a new deal, the Blues could snap him up for a cut-fee price in January or for free next summer. However, the young striker is a regular player for Dortmund and will want a similar role, should he join a new club in the coming days.
