“A good opportunity”- Chelsea urged to sign former Man United superstar available for a free

William Gallas urges Chelsea to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

According to The Metro, Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has urged the Blues to sign Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo as they would benefit from having him in the team.

Gallas thinks the 37-year-old would be an ideal short-term fix for Graham Potter’s men and he would have a point to prove to the next club he plays for.

Ronaldo left Manchester United after the termination of the contract on mutual agreement following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, where he questioned the club’s facilities and more.

Here’s what the Gallas said regarding Ronaldo as an ideal fix for Chelsea (h/t Metro):

“What I know is Todd Boehly wanted Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad when Thomas Tuchel did not.

“Maybe it’s a good opportunity for six months to bring Ronaldo to Chelsea. But as Ronaldo said, if he wins a World Cup, he’ll retire!

“It would be good for Ronaldo to go to Chelsea so he can still play in the Champions League and it can benefit Chelsea too because they need a striker.”

The former Real Madrid superstar, who was part of the Portugal squad that got eliminated from the World Cup by Morocco, was linked with the Blues during the summer transfer window, but former manager Thomas Tuchel blocked the move as he did not want the player.

Since his contract termination, the latest report says that Chelsea have no interest in signing Ronaldo, but nothing is guaranteed yet.

The Blues are struggling for goals this season, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kai Havertz and Armando Broja not scoring enough to push the team up. The latter is currently out injured after being stretchered off in the friendly against Aston Villa.

Will Ronaldo be a good option for the rest of this season before signing a new striker in the summer? possibly so. The 37-year-old is an undisputed king of goal-scoring, with the know-how of delivering at the biggest of stages.

If Graham Potter is convinced by this signature, then he could have a player who has a point to prove in the upcoming weeks and months that he is ready to perform at an elite level. For a free transfer, this could be a low-risk move, even though the wages are high.
