“I want to become a legend”- Newcastle United star on Chelsea’s radar gives honest verdict on his future

Transfer News: Bruno Guimaraes gives a honest verdict on his future amid Chelsea links

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has given an honest verdict on his future amid links with Chelsea. The Blues along with Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in the midfielder.

Bruno joined the Magpies for £40 million in January earlier this year from French side Olympique Lyon. Since then, the 24-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm and established himself as a crucial player in his club’s rise.

Unsurprisingly, top clubs have taken notice of his performance with the Blues being one of them. He has been heavily linked with an exit from St. James’ Park as clubs look to strengthen their midfield in January.

The midfielder has now opened up about his future. Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Football. London), the 24-year-old has plans to become a ‘legend’ at his current club.

“I feel at home. The experience I’ve had here has been amazing. It’s always nice when there are teams looking at you, but my plan is just to do my best at Newcastle. My focus now is just on Newcastle and the World Cup. There is a long way to go. I love playing here, I love to bond with the fans, and I want to become a legend here.”

Such words are likely to break the hearts of the Chelsea fans who would have loved to see the midfielder at West London. The Brazilian international has started in nine League games so far this season, scoring two goals and assisting the same in the process.

His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026 (transfermarkt) and the Magpies will likely do everything they can to keep him for as long as possible. Graham Potter could do with a midfielder like the Brazilian in his squad.

N’Golo Kante sees his current contract expire next summer and it could now be time to replace the Frenchman. The 31-year-old has struggled to keep himself fit this past 18 months and last featured for the club during their 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in August.

Despite the midfielder’s comments, the Blues could still make a bid in January to taste the waters. A fantastic midfielder, and bringing him to Stamford Bridge could likely secure the department for years to come. It remains to be seen if the Blues can persuade the Brazilian to join them.
