“The bottom line”- Graham Potter accused of being biased against this Chelsea attacker

Eric Wynalda accuses Graham Potter of being biased against Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic

Former USMNT star Eric Wynalda has accused Chelsea coach Graham Potter of being biased against Christian Pulisic. The former forward laid out his accusation while speaking to Vegas Insider (h/t Football. London).

“I don’t know the reasons why but when you constantly go through this phase of games and Gallagher gets a call, Sterling’s going to get the call, Havertz is going to get the call, Mount is going to get the call way before he even looks Pulisic’s way so this is an interesting one.”

“A lot of comments coming from Graham Potter suggesting that he’s great around the place, he’s a good player, he’s a good guy, we’re all rooting for him. Bottom line is Graham Potter doesn’t like him. He just doesn’t like him.”

Pulisic joined the Blues from German side Borussia Dortmund in 2019 for £57.6 million. Since then, the winger has struggled to establish himself in the first-team and has also been inconsistent in front of goal.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer after having fallen out of favour under former boss Thomas Tuchel. Things are yet to improve much under Potter.

He has played in three Premier League games under the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager, starting in one of them. The USMNT captain has also managed to play 11 games this season in all competitions.

While the former forward can accuse Potter of being biased, it is not true. Anyone that has watched the winger play will know that he can do better. Also, the 24-year-old is yet to live up to the price tag that the west London club paid for him.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling and the resurgence of Mason Mount has not helped the case for the 24-year-old either. He has been pushed further down the pecking order and will likely have to work very hard if he wants to rise through the ranks to become a regular at the club.

Chelsea will host to play to Manchester United later today. Both sides have been in good form and this could be a classic game to watch. It remains to be seen if Pulisic gets the opportunity to play today.

If he does, this could be the perfect opportunity for him to stake a claim for more minutes in the future. He must remain patient because Potter hasn’t overly shown any bias against him – so chances will always be around the corner for the USMNT star.
