According to the Sun (h/t Mirror), Manchester United have made contact with Chicago Fire winger Jhon Duran who is also a target of Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.

The report also reveals that the player is valued at around £10m and was a teammate of Gabriel Slonina before he was signed by the Blues in the summer and then went back there on loan.

Duran has attracted the attention of quite a few of the top clubs in Europe after his consistent performances in the 2022 MLS season. He has scored eight goals and assisted five in 27 appearances.

Positionally, the 18-year-old, who has played for the Colombia national team already, can either operate as a left winger or as a centre-forward. He has pace, finishing and trickery on the ball to trouble any defences in the world.

Chelsea spent good money on youngsters in the summer transfer window when they signed Omari Hutchinson, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei.

Hence, the Todd Boehly-led regime is not afraid to spend money on the youngsters so that they come to the academy, develop themselves and challenge for a spot in the senior team.

Duran is one of those players who is showing signs of a bright future. He has all the attributes of a player who, when given the right direction in his development phase, could go on to do big things in the European football circuit.

For that reason, Chelsea should everything in their armour to ward off the interest of Liverpool and Manchester United and sign the 18-year-old.
