“He’s being fair with them”- Arsenal legend praises Chelsea manager Graham Potter for his squad management

Arsenal legend Ian Wright praises Chelsea manager Graham Potter for his squad management

Speaking on Match of the Day (h/t Football.London), Arsenal legend Ian Wright praises Chelsea manager Graham Potter for using his squad well and doing the right things to impress the squad.

Potter made seven changes for the Wolverhampton Wanderers game on Saturday compared to the side that faced AC Milan on Wednesday. In both games though, the Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

The possible reasoning behind the changes could be because of Chelsea having to play Milan twice in the space of six days, with the Wolves game right in between. So, with a schedule as demanding as this, there cannot be any other option apart from rotating the squad for getting the right results.

Here’s what the Premier League Hall of Famer and Arsenal legend Wright said (h/t Football.London):

“Once the guys see that you’re putting on good sessions, it’s interesting. The only problem I see is that Potter is going a different level of player. He knows that he can’t pick all of them but it’s going to take all of them to do what they’re doing in the Champions League, Premier League and everything.

“All they want to see is that he’s being fair with them. Good coaching. He’s earnt his right to be there and to get there. I’m so happy to see an English manager.”

With a win over Wolves, the Blues made it three wins in a row in all competitions since the resumption of club football after the international break. It was also their third successive league win.

With each passing game and each win, fans are slowly and steadily getting over the shock sacking of our UEFA Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. Credit for this goes majorly to Potter himself.

Hence, whatever Potter is doing tactically and in terms of using the squad, it is paying off nicely. The challenge doesn’t stop here though, with a tough away game against Milan awaiting on Tuesday night. With how they are precariously placed in the group, it is an important game for both teams.

Potter would be hoping that N’Golo Kante becomes available for selection to boost his options in midfield. The Frenchman has been back in training for more than a week now, but the manager wanted him to become completely fit before he selects him for match-day squads.

Players are stepping up under him who did not under Thomas Tuchel. The ideal example would be Christian Pulisic, who was a fringe player under the German but seems to be enjoying playing under Potter. Long may it continue!
