Report: Chelsea earmark PSG chief for sporting director role

Chelsea want to hire PSG’s Luis Campos as their sporting director

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea want to hire PSG’s Luis Campos as their new sporting director to work with the recently-appointed manager Graham Potter.

Campos is currently working as a strategic advisor at Paris Saint-Germain. The 58-year-old has had a lot of experience working in higher positions in some of the big clubs across Europe. He has worked at clubs such as Real Madrid, AS Monaco and Lille before joining PSG in June.

The Portuguese is in line to replace Michael Emenalo, who left the sporting director position vacant last year and is now working at Monaco.

It is also understood that the Blues co-owner Todd Boehly has already spoken with Campos about the possibilities regarding this potential move.

As a result of not having a sporting director or someone of that ilk at Chelsea this summer, former Thomas Tuchel had to be heavily involved in transfer activities along with the owners.

Even though the signings wanted by the manager were made, it took until the deadline day to finish some important deals.

Now, with Tuchel gone, Boehly is keen on hiring a new sporting director before the World Cup, and the current manager Potter will have a say on the appointment.

The Blues have made a slow start to the season, with 10 points from six league games and losing their opening game of the Champions League. They would be looking to get back to winning ways soon.
