“Gutted to lose him”- Leicester legend accepts Wesley Fofana’s imminent departure to Chelsea

Gary Lineker accepts Wesley Fofana is leaving Leicester City for Chelsea after latest developments

Gary Lineker has taken to his Twitter account to send a message to Chelsea fans after it became clear that Wesley Fofana could leave the club in the coming days.

Fabrizio Romano has given the “Here wo go” to Fofana joining Chelsea, and those who follow the journalist would know that this means an official announcement isn’t necessarily far away.

It is believed that the fee could go up to around £75million including add-ons, and Fofana will sign a six-year contract until the summer of 2028. It seems that only the formalities of the deal are pending.

Quote-replying to the tweet, Lineker admitted that Fofana is now all set to join the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer and showed his faith in the 21-year-old’s potential. The former England international, who played for the Foxes until 1985 before he joined Everton, said:

“Gutted to lose him but wish @Wesley_Fofanaa well. Every player wants to play @ChampionsLeague football so it’s understandable. @ChelseaFC fans, you’ve got the most prodigiously talented young central defender in the world. Yes, I believe he’s that good.”

Fofana’s signing seemed imminent, especially after Brendan Rodgers decided to drop him from Leicester’s squad against Chelsea this weekend. The two teams take on each other later today.

Chelsea have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli earlier this summer. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen’s exits on free transfers aren’t stinging that much now.
