Report: Chelsea outcast not in La Liga club’s plans

Transfer News: Valencia are not interested in Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko

According to @MatteMoretto (via Absolute Chelsea) [h/t Football. London], Valencia are not keen on signing out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer.

Bakayoko’s career at Chelsea has been one to forget. He has not been able to impress since joining the club in 2017 from AS Monaco. Several loan moves later, he still finds himself on the Blues’ books but has shown little to suggest there is a future for him at the Bridge.

The 27-year-old midfielder was loaned out to AC Milan last summer and has had an awful time at San Siro. He did not find a place in Stefano Pioli’s side and was completely discarded from the playing team after a point. As has been the issue throughout his career, Bakayoko has failed to convince.

Predominantly a defensive midfielder who can also play further up the pitch, the Frenchman has the qualities required to be more than a decent footballer. However, he has never found a place which he could call home and a team that trusts him.

This season, the former Monaco man played 18 games for the Italian champions across all competitions failing to score or assist even a single goal. With the Italian club not making the move permanent by any stretch, he is set to remain a part of Chelsea.

There is no doubt that the Blues will be looking to ship him out and get him off the wage book for good and Valencia seemed like a possible destination. However, it has emerged that the La Liga club are not looking at the Frenchman as an option.

What was expected to be a very good career has not turned out that way for Bakayoko. However, the fact that the former AC Milan midfielder is just 27 means that it might not be too late for him to have a renaissance and resurrect his career.

Whilst it almost certainly is not going to be at Stamford Bridge, there could be other mid-table clubs who could do with the services of the French defensive midfielder. He is not a bad player to have after all and could be a key player for such teams.

Bakayoko at Chelsea has been a failed story. It is not the end of the road however for the player who has enough time to resurrect his career and let’s hope he does just that.
