Transfer News: Brighton show interest in taking Chelsea star Armando Broja on loan

According to The Mirror, Brighton have expressed their interest in signing Chelsea star Armando Broja on loan in the summer transfer window. The striker is currently plying his trade at Southampton on a season-long temporary deal, and he is in line to return to Stamford Bridge after this term.

Broja has impressed with the Saints in his loan stint so far, even if his displays have become dry over the past few months. Despite that, Ralph Hasenhuttl has already conveyed his interest in keeping the youngster permanently in the future. Now, Brighton and Hove Albion have entered the fray, but they are looking to only facilitate a loan move.

West Ham United are in the mix to secure the Albanian’s services on loan this summer. He has also attracted attention from the continent, with Napoli keeping him on their radar. However, he is contracted with the Blues until 2026, giving his parent club complete control over his future.

Chelsea must not lose Broja!

The 20-year-old has raised his game to reach newer heights this campaign, which is probably the reason why he has earned this much attention. However, we must not entertain any approaches for a permanent transfer as we cannot afford to make another mistake as we did with Tammy Abraham.

Hence, the Seagulls’ interest does suit our needs as they are only looking to take the Premier League ace on a loan move. They could be a great destination for the forward since Graham Potter’s attacking and possession-heavy tactics could be perfect for the attacker’s development.

After all, it is best if the Chelsea loanee experiences a different playstyle and gets accustomed to it in the process as well. Hence, it may be best for him to move to Potter’s team instead of joining the Hammers, who more or less are quite similar to Hasenhuttl’s side.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side should be wary of the Serie A club as they are looking to use the prospect of playing European football to convince Broja to make a switch. Since they are planning to finalise a permanent transfer, we should remain on our toes when dealing with them.

A repeat of what had happened with Abraham is the last thing that we want, so we must ward off any interest in a permanent move. Due to the long contract, we have firm control over Broja’s future, but we must make sure that he will not push for an exit in the future.

Perhaps, we should convince Broja that he can have a future with us, especially with the struggles that we have endured in the attack. Should we move out the likes of Romelu Lukaku or Timo Werner, for example, Broja could potentially be given a spot in Tuchel’s system.
