Thomas Tuchel believes the Chelsea takeover will be completed before the end of the month

According to The Mirror, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has provided a promising update on the club’s ongoing ownership saga as the 2021/22 season draws to a close.

The German believes the club can strike a deal with their preferred candidate before the month’s deadline is up. Doing so will see the club in a good position heading into the 2022/23 season.

As things stand, Todd Boehly’s consortium are the club’s preferred bidders and it is something Tuchel is aware of. The manager’s optimism that an agreement can be reached is if anything a good piece of news. Hopefully, it will come sooner rather than later.

“I’ve been told last week that we have a preferred bidder and things are going forward.”

Boehly is expected to sign the contract ahead of his £4billion takeover of the club from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. The West London club’s special operating licence expires at the end of the month and the club right now faces a race against time to get the deal over the line.

While Tuchel admits that his job is to make a difference on the field, there is renewed confidence that a deal will be agreed upon soon. He went on to add that it is an important week for the club, hinting that a decision could be made in the next few days.

“It’s a pretty important week for the club, but I was fully focused on the pitch. But after what I heard last week I’m confident.”

The sooner Chelsea gets their act together off the field, the better they can focus on the field. Thankfully it appears to be drawing to a close. Exactly when and how it will develop remains to be seen.

Whether it is a result of the off-field antics or not, Chelsea’s form on the field has taken a nosedive in the past few weeks. Unless results pick up they could be sucked into the race for a top-four spot. The last thing the club needs is to throw away UEFA Champions League qualification at the death.

With the FA Cup final on the horizon, it offers us a chance to end the season on a high. Clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona are set to end this campaign without any silverware so if we do manage to lift any silverware in a season where Covid, injuries, and ownership issues plagued us, it would be remembered as a success.
