Tuchel reveals he is ‘happy’ at Chelsea despite rumours of him leaving following Roman Abramovich sanction
Speaking to BBC Sport as quoted by the Mirror, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, claiming that he is very ‘happy’ to be at Chelsea and is not contemplating leaving, despite the uncertainty surrounding the club.
The Blues were in for a rude shock yesterday after current owner Roman Abramovich saw his assets frozen by the UK government which put the immediate future of the club in limbo. The sanctions on the Russian means the sale of the London based club has been put on hold.
In addition to not being able to sell the club, Chelsea’s activity on and off the pitch like player transfers and contracts have also been suspended. They have also seen their travel budget-restricted, whilst they can no longer sell tickets for their matches at Stamford Bridge.
This has led to speculation that the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel may try and seek a way out of the club given the fact that he may not be able to renew players or sign new players in the near future. However, the German manager has dismissed all such claims, insisting that he is very happy to be at Stamford Bridge.
“I am still happy to be manager of a strong team. I know there is a lot of noise around”
He went on to say that he doesn’t regret being the Blues manager despite their current predicament, calling it a joy to be involved with Chelsea.
“For me personally it’s a joy. A joy all the time to arrive even in situations where noise or circumstances are so obvious”
How does this affect the Blues?
Ever since Abramovich announced his intentions to sell the club last week, there is a lot of noise surrounding Chelsea and football has taken a back seat. Now, with this new development which may affect the team directly, Thomas Tuchel will have a tough time keeping his players focused on the season.
Chelsea are still in contention for the Champions League and FA Cup, although the Premier League title may be a little out of reach, the fact that they will now have to play without a significant crowd at Stamford Bridge is bound to affect them further. Having won the Champions League in his first season with the Blues, Tuchel has an even bigger challenge to handle if he were to repeat the feat.
The future of players whose contracts are expiring this season is now in doubt. While Christensen is expected to be on his way out, players like Rudiger and Azpilicueta may now be closer to the exit door due to this new development.

This will leave Chelsea extremely short on options at centre-back going into next season and with the transfer ban due to the sanctions, they may not be able to sign new players. The Blues will be hoping that the situation can be resolved as soon as possible, but testing times await Chelsea until the resolution is found.
