“His heart”- Agent explicitly reveals Chelsea superstar’s dream of returning to home country

Transfer News: Agent casts Chelsea star Jorginho into uncertainty as Serie A future “dream” revealed

Joao Santos, the agent of Chelsea star Jorginho, has revealed that his client has a “dream” of playing in Serie A and could leave Stamford Bridge in the future as a result. That would be concerning, to say the least, for the English club considering how crucial the midfielder has been for Thomas Tuchel.

Jorginho has a contract with the Blues until 2023, and Santos has admitted that the central midfielder could leave the club after the deal expires. The former could have been interested in a move before that period, but the current restrictions imposed on Tuchel’s side prevents them from selling players in transfer windows.

Speaking in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb via Football Italia (h/t The Sun), Santos has expressed that the Italian star could play for AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma or Napoli in the future. He even goes on to say that there are several clubs interested in the midfielder, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain being among them having held talks in the past.

Can’t afford to lose Jorginho!

“Playing in Serie A is a dream for him and his heart remains here. As things stand today, he could play for four or five clubs: Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma or Napoli. There are many clubs interested in him. In the past, I spoke to PSG, Barcelona and also Milan’s Ricky Massara.”

“I don’t know if the Rossoneri are still interested, though. The fact remains, we can’t do anything now because Chelsea are not allowed to sell, buy or renew contracts. Jorginho has a contract until June 2023, after the World Cup we’ll see about working on a renewal.”

We have been forced into a financially-stricken situation after the UK Government imposed sanctions on Roman Abramovich. As such, there is a dire need to recover the club as early as possible to ensure long-term sustainability. That means we must reduce the expenses as much as possible, including potentially replacing our ageing stars.

We are known to be highly restrictive when it comes to offering long contracts to players past their thirties. However, the club may need to slightly change that policy until things are back to normal. The 30-year-old falls into that category considering how brilliant he has been for club and country in the past couple of years, and the club would be smart to tie him down to a new deal.

The Premier League ace has a unique profile in our team as there is no one else apart from perhaps N’Golo Kante who can effortlessly play as a lone holding midfielder at such a consistent level. Replacing him would no doubt prove to be costly. The likes of Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni have been linked, but our financial situation at least until Roman Abramovich sells the club would certainly hamper any interest.

Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher are good shouts to eventually replace Jorginho, but they would need time to slot into the first-team set-up. Hence, it would be best on our part to renew the latter as early as possible once we get rid of these restrictions.

Since Jorginho has a dream of returning to Italy, we could find it difficult to convince the midfielder about staying with us for longer. However, we must acknowledge the fact that these comments are coming from his agent, who has a history of constantly talking about Jorginho’s desire to join a Serie A side. In that case, it wouldn’t be wrong to think that these comments could be a way for him to get a better contract proposal for his client.
