Tuchel refusing Everton sale for ‘important’ 26-year-old Chelsea midfielder

Transfer News: Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel doesn’t want to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Everton

According to the Sun, Despite serious interest from Everton, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to keep hold of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and intends to use him in the second half of the season.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has largely impressed in the 20 appearances he has made in the first half of the campaign. This comes after first-choice midfield stars like N’Golo Kanté, Jorginho, and Mateo Kovačić- have all missed a considerable amount of matches due to injury and Coronavirus-related issues.

Fast forward to the January transfer window, and two big clubs have shown an interest in signing Loftus-Cheek. Juventus attempted to loan him in previously and now it is believed that Everton are keen on securing a deal for the Chelsea academy graduate as they await Frank Lampard’s arrival.

Despite being an academy graduate, he still hasn’t managed to earn a cemented position in the squad. The recurring injury issues throughout his career could well have played a part in that, but his performances haven’t had the top-level consistency that we would want at Stamford Bridge.

Now, it is believed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel views Loftus-Cheek as an essential player and isn’t sold out by the idea of offloading him in this window. Amidst such a situation, the board would be wise to block the Toffees’ attempt and back their manager.

Do we need Loftus-Cheek?

Saul Niguez and Ross Barkley haven’t been their best self in this campaign, and without Loftus-Cheek, our depth is likely to crumble. Therefore we can’t risk losing him in the January transfer window, and it makes complete sense that Tuchel is viewing the Englishman as an important squad member.

The English star is one of our own and has experience under his belt. His spells at Fulham and Crystal Palace showed he has the bite required to be an astute midfielder.

Loftus-Cheek has enjoyed a fairly decent amount of playing time this season and if Tuchel is showing faith in him, this could turn out to be his best individual season at Chelsea so far.
