“Top club wants me”- Belgian striker drops hint of leaving current club amidst Chelsea interest

Transfer Update: Charles De Ketelaere suggests he is open to leaving current club for Chelsea

According to Het Laatste Nieuws via Sport Witness (h/t Football.london), Charles De Ketelaere has revealed his eagerness to play for a ‘top club’ like Chelsea one day.

Charles De Ketelaere has been a sensation at Jupiler Pro League. The 20-year-old forward has already bagged ten goals and seven assists in 27 matches across all competitions for Club Brugge. This season, the Belgian starlet also has one assist against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

What makes him unique is his versatility, as the youngster has the ability to play in all forward positions, including left-wing, right-wing, and even in the attacking midfield area. It seems Ketelaere is ready to move to the next level of his professional career.

Brugge scout Paul Courant recently revealed that Ketelaere is ready to play for Chelsea, and under Thomas Tuchel, he could even get a starting position immediately.

“Put Charles at Chelsea tomorrow, and he will play immediately. Especially, under that trainer [Thomas Tuchel].”

In response to Courant’s comments, the Belgian starlet revealed that if a top club like Chelsea comes with an offer, he might be interested in switching his team.

“In soccer, you have to listen to everyone. That’s what I’m going to do, too, if I have to make a choice. If tomorrow an absolute top club wants me, I might decide to sign there.”

Romelu Lukaku hit the ground running when he came back to the Bridge but has since simmered down. The Belgian striker has only managed to bag 3 Premier League goals before being sidelined through injury.

On the other hand, Blues’ current forward depth is questionable. In the absence of Lukaku and Werner earlier this season, Thomas Tuchel pushed Kai Havertz to play in a central position, which isn’t really his forte. We also saw Tammy Abraham, Armando Broja, and Olivier Giroud depart our ranks in the summer.

Ketelaere, on the other hand, can provide flexibility to the German manager, and his goal-scoring form coupled with his creative abilities in the middle of the pitch could make him a useful forward option for Chelsea. If he does come to the Bridge, hopefully, he is accorded with ample game time and not cast away like many other top young talents at Chelsea in the past.
