“Unthinkable”- Chelsea face a massive blow in the pursuit of Brazilian winger impressing at Ajax

Transfer News: Chelsea face a massive blow in the pursuit of Ajax Amsterdam winger Antony
According to NOS (h/t Mirror), Ajax coach Erik ten Hag is reluctant to release Chelsea target Antony in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian starlet Antony has been putting in some electrifying performances in recent seasons. Ajax is known for their production of quality young players through its ranks in the European football community.
It seems they have uncovered a future superstar in Antony. The 21-year-old player already has six goals and four assists in 15 appearances this season. Furthermore, his qualities have been compared with that of PSG superstar Neymar.

Chelsea have been previously linked with the youngster. However, it seems the Blues won’t be able to get their hands on the Brazilian in the winter transfer window.
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag recently said that it is improbable the dutch team would sell their key forward in January.
“A departure during the winter break is unthinkable.”
Chelsea’s recent form has been sensational. However, statistically, the Blues attackers lacked behind the top Premier League forwards this season. Even though Mason Mounts top the goalscoring chart for the Blues, full-back Reece James and Ben Chillweel have the most number on the list after that.

Romelu Lukakau and Timo Werner were sidelined for several games after injuries. In the meantime, Thomas Tuchel had to push Kai Havertz into the central role. This suggests the lack of depth in the squad, which could be a critical factor in Chelsea’s title hunt.
On the other hand, the downfall of Cristian Pulisic thanks to injuries is concerning. The injury-prone forward has missed several games this season. However, his comeback to the field didn’t give any optimistic results either.

Antony showed his qualities in the Netherlands, and it seems he could be ready to take up the next challenge in his career. However, at this moment, convincing Ajax would be a challenging task for Marina Granovskaia’s board.
