La Liga giants ready to sell players to fund a move for Chelsea’s first-team star

Transfer News: Real Madrid looking to sign Chelsea contract Antonio Rudiger rebel on free

According to AS (h/t Metro), Spanish giants Real Madrid are all set to sign Chelsea’s defender Antonio Rudiger and are prepared to offer the defender a deal worth £200,000-per-week.

The German international will become a free agent at the end of the current season and can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January. The Bernabeu club agreed on a similar pre-contract with David Alaba in January of this year.

The Blues have been in talks for renewal for some time but nothing has been agreed yet. But the latest talks with west Londoners have stalled after he was disappointed with their opening offer. And now Real are set to swoop, with negotiations to begin in January over a potential pre-agreement.

Rudiger is vital for Chelsea and will be a huge loss if he moves on.

Real are also expected to sell a number of big stars at the end of the season to free up their wage bill. The likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo are all set to raise funds and make room for the Chelsea defender.

However, talking to The Guardian in October, Rudiger has revealed that he is happy at Chelsea.

“The most important thing is that I feel happy here. I think if people look at it, they can see I’m happy. About the contract situation, I talk with the club. This is for nobody’s ears. It was how I said it would be after the Euros – there would be talks.”

But despite that Spanish giants are set to go all out and sign the defender for free. Carlo Ancelotti is looking to bolster his defence after losing Sergio Ramos to PSG and Raphael Varane to Manchester United last summer.

Thomas Tuchel has completely changed Rudiger style of play.

Losing Rudiger will be a huge blow for Chelsea as he has been a revelation for them since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard last summer. He’s in his peak years, in the form of his life, and Tuchel will be hoping that the club can find a middle ground so that the defender can commit his future to the club.
