Speaking ahead of the weekend’s set of games Vieira gave a glowering appraisal of Gallagher’s potential and work ethic. The Arsenal legend appears to have a high opinion of the player and admits he is a joy to work with.

Vieira’s team has created unrest in the table, defeating Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend. The Eagles stifled the defending champions on their home turf with Gallagher playing a key role.

He was everywhere on the pitch, and his work rate and effort overwhelmed the Blues midfield. Gallagher would score Palace’s second goal on the night, cementing all three points at one of English football’s toughest venues.
