La Liga behemoths make offer for 19-year-old Chelsea target playing in Championship

Transfer News: Barcelona have made an offer to sign Chelsea target Fabio Carvalho

According to Ekrem Konur (h/t Football.london), Barcelona have made an offer to Fulham to sign Chelsea target Fabio Carvalho.

Young forward Fabio Carvalho has been a sensation at Fulham. His 2020/21 season was an example of the incredible growth the player has achieved in a few years. He completed that season with 12 goals and six assists in 21 games across all competition, presenting an accurate display of an offensive mindset.

As his contract will end the following summer, elite European teams have shown interest in signing the youngster. The West London team have also kept a tab on the player’s situation.

But no other team proposed any formal offer till now. It is believed that Catalan team Barcelona have made the first step in their pursuit of the youngster by making an offer to the Championship team.

Due to the uncertainty of injury-prone Ousmane Dembélé, signing another player who plays in that area makes sense for them. But regardless of their aim behind wanting to sign Carvalho, it comes as a blow to the Blues.

Recent injuries have made the task difficult for Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel’s team faced an attacking problem recently with two of his key forwards sidelined due to injury issues. With Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner facing fitness issues, only Kai Havertz has been a viable option to play in that position.

The Blues team would develop a greater depth in the squad by including the English youngster in their ranks. It would also provide the German manager with better options to souffle the starting XI and place a strong team against competitive opponents.

But it seems the Blues would face difficulty even if they try to propose a better offer due to competition from other teams. Still just 19, he would be a good long-term addition for any team. It would just be a shame if that doesn’t end up being Chelsea.
