Chelsea reach verbal agreement to sign 22-year-old Serie A star rated at over £43m

Transfer News: Chelsea reach verbal agreement for Achraf Hakimi

According to transfer news from The Sun, Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement to sign Achraf Hakimi. Inter Milan have demanded £43million as well as Marcos Alonso for their prized asset.

Hakimi came through the ranks at the Real Madrid academy and made his senior debut in 2017. However, it was during his two-year loan stint with Borussia Dortmund that the Moroccan truly announced himself. The 22-year-old then sealed a permanent transfer to Inter Milan in the summer of 2020.

Having signed for the Italian giants, Hakimi went on to play a critical role. The Nerazzurri went on to lift their first Serie A crown in eleven years, guided by Antonio Conte. While Chelsea have players who can do well in the wing-back role on the right, Hakimi is viewed as one who can slot in seamlessly.

Nonetheless, the deal will be far from straightforward. Inter Milan want a cash plus player deal for Hakimi. Marcos Alonso is who they are after as new Inter boss Simeone Inzaghi sees him as a good addition to the side. It has been claimed that a cash sum of £43million plus Alonso would be what Inter want for Hakimi. There seems to be a verbal agreement already in place for the Moroccan to join Chelsea.

This is no doubt a great development in the chase for Hakimi. While the deal is far from close, progress is slowly being made. Hakimi would no doubt be a solid addition to Tuchel’s side. He is a natural wingback which would allow someone like Azpilicueta to play in the back three.
