PL side in pole position to sign this Chelsea outcast in a £20m deal

Transfer News: Aston Villa in pole position to sign Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham

According to transfer news from Express&Star, Aston Villa are the favourites to sign Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham. A £20m deal could be on the cards as the striker has been on the fringes for a while now.

It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench in recent weeks. The academy graduate has hardly featured over the last 3 months or so, often coming off the bench in the dying minutes or not featuring at all.

Abraham broke into the first-team last season under Frank Lampard and was a vital part of the side that finished fourth. However, the England international has slipped down the order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner. The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.

Villa, of course, are no strangers to Tammy Abraham. The Chelsea academy graduate spent the 2018-19 season at Villa Park and propelled the then Championship side to the Premier League with his goal-scoring exploits. It was that season at Villa that pushed him into the fray for a starting spot at Chelsea for the following season.

Now, it has been reported that Villa will return for the striker as they have been marked at favourites to complete the deal. Abraham could be available for around £20m given how less he has featured since Thomas Tuchel took over.

There is obviously no shortage of suitors for the English striker as Leicester City, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham have also shown interest. Aston Villa will need to move fast if they are to secure one of their former players.
