Chelsea target Jules Kounde is prepared to accept personal terms with Barcelona.
According to transfer news from CaughtOffside, Chelsea are likely to go after Sevilla starlet Jules Kounde in the summer.
The French defender has made a name for himself in the short while he has been at Sevilla. That has encouraged teams from all over Europe to keep an eye on him and clubs are trying to sign him. The likes of Manchester City and other La Liga clubs are also said to be after the defender.
Chelsea already have a decent stock of central defenders at their disposal. The likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have been impressive but their defensive fragilities came to the fore as West Brom looped 5 past them at the weekend.
While it could be attributed to the fact that Chelsea largely played the game with 10 men, Chelsea still had all their defensive players. After Silva was sent off, Christensen came on in place of Hakim Ziyech. Yes, there were no mishaps against Porto but they need to address the backline issues in the near future.
With Tuchel switching to a back three, it does make sense to go after at least one new centre-back. Furthermore with Silva’s contract expiring at the end of the season, bringing in a new defender should be high on the agenda.
And there are few better prospects available than Kounde available in the market.
