Transfer News: Emerson Palmieri likely to leave Chelsea for Inter Milan

According to transfer news from Todofichajes, Emerson Palmieri could be heading out of Chelsea next season. Inter Milan have shown interest in the player and Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the player to Italy.

There were exit links in January 2020 but Frank Lampard refused to sanction a sale. Emerson has been underused ever since Lampard took over and the arrival of Ben Chilwell did nothing to help that cause. Chilwell became the first choice since arriving at the club.

When Alonso fell out of favour, Emerson was given sporadic chances. However, on Tuchel’s appointment, Alonso was straightaway restored as the first-choice wing-back, with even Ben Chilwell struggling for game time. Currently, both share the duties in the position.

Emerson has struggled massively to get any sort of game time this season. He has played a grand total of 789 minutes, with most of them coming in cup competitions. That has led to speculation about his future and Inter Milan have offered him a way out of the club.

A four-year deal is in the talks for Emerson at Inter as a reunion with Antonio Conte could be on the cards. Given his age and experience, Emerson should be playing week in week out.

That is clearly impossible at Chelsea due to the presence of Alonso and Chilwell and an exit looks the best possible option.
