According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Jorginho could return to Napoli in case he leaves Chelsea. Apparently, his agent has kept the door open to a potential return to Napoli but did acknowledge the fact that he is an important part of Chelsea.
Sarri and Jorginho have an intertwined history. The Italians had a successful stint at Napoli for three years before leaving for Chelsea in 2018. As soon as Sarri was appointed, he demanded Jorginho’s signing and so he was signed.
While Jorginho is still at the club, Sarri left in 2019 to join Juventus. He is currently a free agent after leaving Juve last season. However, Napoli are in talks to bring back Sarri as a replacement for Genarro Gattuso. Jorginho’s agent spoke about their time in Italy and a potential return.
‘There are many rumours about that because he did so well at Napoli. It’s a special moment for him. He is an important player for Chelsea now. However, he is an Italy international, and we are thinking about a return to Serie A if he leaves the Blues.
If Napoli will make an offer, we’ll evaluate it. He had a great time in Naples, and he has many friends over there.’
It remains to be seen what Chelsea make of the situation and Jorginho’s future. They do have Kante, Kovacic and the young Billy Gilmour at their disposal.
There are also the likes of Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are out on loan and performing well. Thomas Tuchel will have to evaluate his midfield options at the end of the season.
