Chelsea News: Tuchel targets two key areas to strengthen in the summer

Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel wants to strengthen two areas of Chelsea next season

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to add to two areas of his squad next season. While a whole host of players were signed last season, it looks as if the new manager is keen on adding a striker and a central defender for next season.

It has been a splendid turnaround for Chelsea since Tuche took over in January. The Blues have climbed up to 4th place in the Premier League. They have also made progress in the cup competitions with an FA Cup semi-final and Champions League quarter-final to come.

Thiago Silva of Chelsea leaves the pitch injured as Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel looks on during the Premier League behind closed doors match between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, White Hart Lane, England on 4 February 2021.

In 14 games under the German, Chelsea are unbeaten and have won 10 of those games. Nonetheless, Tuchel is looking ahead and want to add to two significant areas of the squad.

The Blues have been a solid unit at the back, conceding just twice in 14 games. While the defensive contingent looks all set, planning for the future is a wise idea. Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva are ageing and a young centre-back could help.

However, the problem has been at the other end of the pitch with their strikers looking goal-shy. Timo Werner has had his troubles, while Tuchel does not seem to trust Tammy Abraham.

Kai Havertz has done well as a false-nine but the need for an out-and-out striker is evident. It remains to be seen who Chelsea and Tuchel sign next summer.
