Transfer News: Chelsea could be interested in signing Leon Goretzka

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea could look to sign Leon Goretzka in a bid to help Kai Havertz. Both players were in action for Germany as they toppled Iceland in the WC Qualifiers.

Kai Havertz was an expensive signing, arriving from Bayern Leverkusen. The attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the best emerging talents to come out from the league in recent times. The problem is though, is that he has fared worse than Werner.

Kai Havertz has struggled at Chelsea

In no position has Havertz looked comfortable. He has been tried out in multiple positions in the attack and the midfield but none has worked. It is only at false nine the playmaker looks somewhat effective.

However as Joachim Low showed, Havertz functioned much better with a player like Leon Goretzka playing around him. The Bayern man plays deep to allow Havertz the freedom to dictate the attack.

While there has been no link with the Bayern midfielder, Chelsea could look to bring him in, especially if he can get their expensive recruit firing. His contract ends in 2022 and that could mean Chelsea can make efforts to get him.
