Chelsea star Timo Werner admits he is struggling to cope with the busy English schedule

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea star Timo Werner admits he is struggling to cope with the hectic English schedule.

One of our top signings of the summer, the German ace’s foray into the Premier League is the first time he has left his home nation to play professional football.

It would appear the change would be more than what he has bargained for. Werner has so far enjoyed mixed success at Chelsea this season.

The German ace is currently going through a goal drought that has extended to eight matches. With games coming thick and fast, adjusting to the frantic schedule has proven to be a challenge.

“I think it’s hard when you play every three days… and on Saturday against teams that can rest the whole week.”

Wener admits the Premier League is tougher than he anticipated. With physicality a major aspect, one cannot just get around by virtue of their technical ability.

“The Premier League is a little bit different to my old league. It’s tougher than I thought.”

The 24-year-old however believes he can handle the pressure. While he admits it is more so than in previous seasons, it is something good players thrive on.

Werner is one of the best young talents on the continent and should do the same once he adjusts to his new surroundings.

Timo Werner is going through a rough patch at the moment

Coming from Germany, Werner is conditioned to expect a reprieve midseason when the Bundesliga take their winter break. However, there is no such thing in England where the festive season is the harbinger of more games in quick succession.

Given this change in culture, Werner’s struggles are understandable. Given time, there is no reason why he cannot turn adversity into opportunity and undergo a purple patch of form.
