According to Football.london, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is extremely impressed by the attitude of his players following yet another victory.
The Blues qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League with a late win in Rennes. The game looked to be heading to a 1-1 draw, only for Olivier Giroud to score in injury time.
“I thought it showed a lot and it was one of the things which made me happy.”
The match finished 2-1 and the desire to go get the win has left a profound impression on Lampard.
Chelsea have looked excellent in recent weeks. Apart from just playing good football, the mentality of the players also appears to be top notch.
“The attitude of the players that came through tough times.”
The ability to never know when we are beaten and to keep chasing a win will hold us in good stead going forward. With the title race looking to be a close run this time around, mentality could make the difference come the end of the campaign.
A draw would have not been the worst result. However, the fact that the players went for a win shows the strength that exists in the group.
“To have players to have a push and desire to turn that around shows a little bit of the strength of the group.”
With a key match against table-topping Tottenham Hotspur next, we can hopefully take the momentum forward and secure all three points. Doing so will see us leapfrog Jose Mourinho’s side.
While talent is important, a winning mentality is equally key. Chelsea acquired the former over the summer and are in the process of perfecting the latter.
