As reported by the Mirror, Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has revealed that the trust manager Frank Lampard has placed in him has been a motivating factor in his recent performances.
The Frenchman, who is currently the second longest-serving member of the Blues’ squad, has finally come of age and established himself as a key member of the Blues’ rearguard.
After a stuttering start, Chelsea’s defence has improved greatly over the past couple of weeks, with the Blues keeping four clean sheets in a row in all competitions.
This is the first time in four years that Chelsea have secured four successive clean sheets. And Zouma has featured in all those matches. (h/t Mirror)
“I’m very happy to have played in the last games because the manager has given me trust and I want to give it back.”
The Frenchman also added that he felt like he had something to prove each time he was on the field and that he was enjoying the current run of results that the team is going through. (h/t Mirror)
Not only at the back, but Zouma is also having quite the impact in front of goal. The 26-year-old was on the scoresheet against Burnley this past weekend, meaning he has now scored three league goals this term.
That means the 26-year-old Zouma is the club’s joint top-scorer at this stage of the season in the Premier League alongside marquee summer signing Timo Werner.
