As reported by the Daily Star, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has hailed new teammate Hakim Ziyech after his performance against Burnley at the weekend.
Ziyech was one of Chelsea’s first signings of this past summer window. The Moroccan international arrived from Dutch giants AFC Ajax but had been struggling with injury problems for some time.
Back to full fitness now, Ziyech is slowly being integrated into the team by manager Frank Lampard.
After having scored in UEFA Champions League clash against Krasnodar, Ziyech earned his first Premier League start against Burnley on Saturday. And boy he did not disappoint!
The Moroccan international was the star of the show as Chelsea ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against the Clarets. The 27-year-old not only scored the opening goal for us on the day but also set Timo Werner up for the third, showing his class in abundance.
And now, Mason Mount, who also impressed against Burnley, has lavished a lot of praise on the attacking midfielder, hailing his quality. (h/t Daily Star)
“World-class player, obviously coming in and scoring the other night [against Krasnodar] and scoring on his Premier League debut. He’s a brilliant player. He’s a joy to play with, very clever on the ball, he brings a lot to the team.”
It was the first time all of our six major summer signings – Ziyech, Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy started together. And safe to say, the signs are extremely encouraging.
Up next for Chelsea is a UCL fixture against Mendy’s former club Rennes on Wednesday night.
