According to TEAMtalk (h/t Football.london), Chelsea have joined the race to sign teenage sensation Michael Olise from EFL Championship outfit Reading.
The 18-year-old Olise spent some time at the Chelsea and Manchester City youth academies before joining the Royals’ setup in 2016. The versatile attacking midfielder broke into the senior team in 2019 but has come into his own in the ongoing season.
So far in 2020/21, Olise has featured ten times across all competitions for Reading, racking up a return of two goals and three assists in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And his performances haven’t gone unnoticed with a host of clubs in the Premier League keeping an eye out for the teenager. (h/t Football.london)
The likes of Arsenal, Leeds United and Wolves were already believed to be tracking Olise. And now, Chelsea have also entered the race for the teenage sensation. There is further competition for the 18-year-old with Liverpool and Everton also showing an interest. (h/t Football.london)
Not only clubs from England but teams across Europe have been alerted to the 18-year-old’s Olise’s potential. As per the report, the likes of Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Napoli and AS Monaco are also keen on the teenage sensation.
Still very much in the formative years of his career, Olise is showing great promise. In 37 appearances for the Royals he has two goals and five assists against his name. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Considering the number of clubs interested in him, it will not be easy for Chelsea to snap up the young attacking midfielder. It will be interesting to see if the Blues or any of the aforementioned clubs make a move for him in January or the next summer.
