According to Football.london, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed that four key stars will miss the blockbuster clash against Liverpool.

Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge this weekend for the first home game of the 2020/21 campaign. With champions Liverpool our opponents, it is an early test of our title credentials.

However, given our injury troubles, Lampard will be without four of his prominent players. (h/t Football.london)

“Chilwell is not ready for the game, neither is Christian Pulisic. We hope they will work well during the week.”

The quartet also missed the season opener against Brighton. Although we struggled at times, the Blues had enough quality to win the game 3-1.

Pulisic is a major miss given the impact he had against the Merseysiders last season. He caused Jurgen Klopp’s side plenty of problems in the UEFA Super Cup before giving us hope in the 5-3 loss at Anfield later on.

Thiago Silva joined on a free transfer
Thiago Silva will have to wait for his Chelsea debut

While Silva is not injured, he only began training a few days ago. The game against Liverpool comes too soon for the veteran Brazilian, who led PSG to the Champions League final. (h/t Football.london)

“Thiago has been training for the last three or four days, but Liverpool will come too soon for him.”

Thankfully, there is some good news as striker Timo Werner is available to face Liverpool. The German ace suffered a dead leg in the match at Brighton. He has now recovered and is back in time to face Klopp’s Reds. (h/t Football.london)
