Olivier Giroud sends warning to Arsenal ahead of FA Cup final

According to the Mirror, Olivier Giroud is keen on trumping former side Arsenal to yet another trophy.

The 33-year-old Frenchman opened the scoring against Manchester United in the semifinals. He led from the front as the Blues waltzed to a 3-1 victory.

Giroud has been in sensational form of late and has solidified his position as a key member of the squad. He has scored five goals in eight games since the restart. Not shabby for a striker who was once seemed expendable.

Olivier Giroud hopes to beat former side Arsenal in the FA Cup final

“I said to the boys I would love to win another one, it would be my fifth FA Cup and we are in another final.”

A four-time winner of the competition, Giroud is keen to add number five this time around. Standing in his way is former side Arsenal with whom he has won three FA Cups.

“A big game against Arsenal which will be so special for me personally.”

Giroud scored against Arsenal in the Europa League Final 2019

Giroud spent almost six years at Arsenal. He made 253 appearances and scored 105 goals and 41 assists.

This is not the first time that the Frenchman has faced off against the Gunners in a major final. He played a starring role and even opened the scoring as Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final in 2019.

He expressed the team’s hunger to win trophies and also sounded out their ambition to ensure a top-three finish.

Frank Lampard has done well at Chelsea

Currently in third spot, Chelsea’s top-four chances were boosted following Leicester City’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur. Beating Liverpool at Anfield will take us closer to ensuring a third spot finish in what has been a promising season.

Adding an FA Cup to that will be the cherry on the top. The fact that Lampard could do it in his first PL season as manager with a largely inherited squad makes it all the more impressive.

Chelsea trail Bayern Munich by three goals in the UEFA Champions League. Although a formidable task, it remains to be seen if the Blues can indeed pull off the impossible.

With Napoli or Barcelona waiting to play the winner, the Blues fans will not be blamed if they held onto the nostalgia of our 2011-12 run.
