Italian reports (h/t Sun) claim that Chelsea are in talks with Sassuolo to sell Kenedy after the Brazilian struggled to impress new manager Frank Lampard.
Kenedy was at Newcastle for two seasons but the Magpies did not sign him up for this season. The 23-year-old impressed under Rafa Benitez but interest in the Brazilian hasn’t been high.
However, Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Sun) claims that Sassuolo want to sign the 23-year-old after their star player Rogerio picked up an injury.
Kenedy was great as a left-back for Newcastle and it is a bit of a surprise that he isn’t being given the time to prove his worth to Lampard. The Brazilian is adept at playing as a winger too, and we could have used his services during a transitional season.
The 23-year-old didn’t get enough chances to play at Stamford Bridge apart from his debut season, and it seems like we are looking to cut our losses on the former Fluminense player.
It will be interesting to see how much we can get for the 23-year-old as Newcastle didn’t agree with our £30million valuation and sent him back to the Bridge (h/t Sun).
Chelsea can sell until 2nd September as the European window is open but we cannot buy any players until January.
