Chelsea handed massive boost as star player decides to snub Real Madrid interest – report

Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois has decided not to move to Real Madrid and will remain at Chelsea next season, according to reports from Spain.

Don Balon (h/t Daily Star) claims that the Belgian is unhappy being the second choice keeper for Madrid and will not be playing under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The report claims that the top target for Madrid is AS Roma star Alisson and with Courtois not interested in a move to the La Liga giants, he could sign a new contract and extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois did have a good season with us as he kept 19 clean sheets but not reaching the top-four has to be a bit of a downer with no Champions League football next season.

The Belgian is currently with the national side in the World Cup and his team will battle against England for the top spot in Group G.

This certainly will come as great news to the Chelsea fans as Courtois is one of the best in the world and it would have been tough to replace a keeper of his quality.

We should be looking to tie him down to a long-term contract as quickly as possible as it would provide us with a safety net should someone else come calling again.

Real will probably try to disturb the player before the start of next season but we must do everything in our powers to keep Courtois at Chelsea.
