Two Players Who Might Leave Chelsea This Up Coming January Transfer Window

As the Premier League season goes on unravelling tales and wonderful football, teams are all set and so are the new managers. Squads are getting adapted to tactics and numerous instructions but often in all this, there are always a few players that will be left out because of the manager’s preferences and thoughts and same is the case at Chelsea Football Club under Antonio Conte.  While Conte has tried to improve the squad in the summer, there are also a few players that need to leave for their own benefit and another important reason would be that their exit would reduce Chelsea’s spending on wages. So here are the two players who could leave the club in the coming transfer window:

1) Cesc Fabregas

Antonio Conte’s tactics and preference has been a major reason as to why Fabregas has only started two games this season for the club. One was in the EFL Cup and the other was a Premier League game. Conte prefers to have Matic and Kante as the two central midfielders and in a system that the Italian sees fit, Fabregas seems to be alienated at the moment and for such a quality player sitting on the bench, a move in January would seem very good amidst heavy reported interest from Italian teams including the Milan clubs and Juventus.

Fabregas became an integral player under Jose Mourinho and won the league title with Chelsea but he was a huge underperformer last season where a traumatic phase at the London club saw them miss out on Europe. As things stand now, seems like the Spaniard has lost his place to the new recruit N’Golo Kante and a move in January would be an ideal way for him to get his career right back on track.

2) John Obi Mikel

John Obi Mikel is probably stepping into the dusk of his Chelsea career. With only a year left on his contract, the Nigerian has openly said that he will obviously try to move if the Blues don’t offer him a new deal.

Mikel’s brief rise under Guus Hiddink last year looked promising but once again this year he doesn’t seem to be playing a part itself in Conte’s plan. Starting the season by participating in Rio for Nigeria where he and his team won a bronze in Olympics, Mikel at Chelsea has lost his place to Matic and Kante.

The midfielder himself claimed that he has the chance to try and agree a pre-contract during the January Window and I guess for Mikel’s career this would be the best.
