Mourinho: Forget About Costa, Swoop For Cavani And Offload Current Crop Of Strikers In The Summer

According to reports, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will choose from three of Europe’s most in-form strikers in the summer – Edinson Cavani, Diego Costa and Mario Madzukic. It got me thinking about who I would want to see in a Blues shirt, and who I think the Portuguese should forget about, and I came to this conclusion.

I am assuming that Romelu Lukaku is going to return to Stamford Bridge after his season-long loan spell at Everton and I am guessing that he will be a player Mourinho will base next season’s team on. So, if he is to recruit a big money striker he will need to make some room – I would flog Demba Ba and Fernando Torres, and possibly even Samuel Eto’o depending on replacements.

But from the three, I would say we needed someone different from Lukaku, so I would suggest that rules out Costa. They are both powerful players who like to throw their weight around and who make a nuisance of themselves because of their strength.

Cavani is also a bustling player, though he is more about creating space for himself and the other playing around him, and for me he is the perfect player to come into the club. He is quick, he’s strong and knows where the goal is – he has 20 goals in his 29 games this season.

He is an aerial presence and is good on the floor, so for me I would forget about Mandzukic and Costa, flog the current crop and go after Cavani.

Blues, what do you reckon?
