Chelsea (4)                         West Ham United (1)
Alex 16’                               Parker 30’
Drogba 56’, 90’
Malouda 77’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Attendance: 41,755 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stamford Bridge was packed out for a London derby which promised, and duly delivered, as Chelsea demolished a West Ham side, with former blues Gianfranco Zola in charge.
Alex got the first goal on 16 minutes, rising to head home from a cross. Parker equalised with a fabulous effort, which was all in vain, as two Drogba strikes settled the tie, either side of a Malouda goal.
Drogba was to get the plaudits though, as it was a season to remember for both him and Chelsea.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men won the league in superb fashion, with an 8-0 demolition of Wigan on the final day, stopping rivals Manchester United, who had won it 3 seasons running, with Chelsea finishing 3rd the season before.
Drogba was also to top the goalscoring charts with a superb 29 goals, aswell as the winner in the FA Cup final, to achieve a history league and cup double, giving fans a chance to savour the success that would hopefully be coming to Stamford Bridge on a yearly basis.
