There is further speculation that Italian champions AC Milan are keen to sign Didier Drogba before their season starts.
With Romelu Lukaku set to sign and Fernando Torres expected to lead the line it is believed that Milan will make the move for the Ivory Coast striker.
Drogba is exoected to play a large part of the season, but he may not feature as much as he would like. It is unknown whether someone who is entering the last few years of their career will want to take a back seat.
If he moved to Italy, there would be competition from Alexandre Pato, Antonio Cassano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pippo Inzaghi but with Drogba’s pace, power and speed he is likely to feature in most games.
Despite speculation with a move away, it is thought the veteran striker would be happy to stay and fight for his place and is considering a new one-year contract extension.
