Mauricio Pochettino has told players to learn quickly if they wish to lead Chelsea to European competition next season, as the Blues are only three points below sixth place now. Sixth will guarantee the Blues Europa League spot, while seventh, UEFA Conference League.
This came after the Blues thrashed Everon 6-0 and closed the gap in the standings to reach European competitions. This is one of the club’s objectives this season, as they try to end the season on a positive note.
But in order to do that, they will need to play consistently, as the Blues’ inconsistency has made it difficult for them to win games under Pochettino, who has also been the target of jeers from supporters following games.
Because of their inconsistent play, many would be doubtful that Chelsea will ensure a spot in the European football league the next season. Pochettino’s remarks cast doubt on the notion that they now don’t have many games and should be able to avoid losing any games. In remarks to the BBC, he stated:
‘’The most important thing now is to build a team that is consistent and to win games. We need to be solid in our performance because we have dropped too many points. We were not consistent enough. We need to learn quickly.”
As the season draws to a close, Pochettino has emphasised on our performance. We cannot afford to lose any games because it would undoubtedly affect our European ranking. Because this is a young team, and there will always be problems when we want them to perform day in and day out, their inexperience is sometimes too evident on the pitch, which other teams exploit easily.
This is the problem we need to solve, and Pochettino has already warned this side that they cannot go on to lose more games. If we continue to drop points, it won’t help us. Hopefully, we will remain more consistent until the end of the campaign.
