Squawka reports suggest Raheem Sterling is the fastest Chelsea player

Squawka has released the list of Premier League’s fastest players this season, stating Raheem Sterling as the fastest Chelsea player. The list compiles speedsters from all 20 teams. It unveils the excitement behind the ‘fastest league’ in the world.

Pace is the game in modern football, especially within the English top tier. Chelsea candidate Raheem Sterling takes place on Squawka’s list with a top speed of 35.53km/h. He outdid his partner Mykhaylo Mudryk, who also had a place in the Premier League’s fastest top 10 last season.

Sterling has been handy for his manager this season and it is not just limited to speedy runs by the flanks. The England forward has five goals and six assists to his name this season. The numbers don’t sound interesting but are enough considering the state of Chelsea players this season.

Mauricio Pochettino is reliant on Raheem Sterling as the EFL Cup final nears. There aren’t many players up front for the Argentine boss to lean on at the moment. This should sum up the importance of Sterling within Chelsea’s ranks.

Who is the faster Premier League player?

Even though Raheem Sterling is the fastest Chelsea player, he finds himself in the ninth position. Tottenham’s defender Micky van de Ven is the fastest Premier League player with a bursting pace of 37.38 km/hr. The Dutchman is enjoying his debut season at the club. His pace is a key part of Ange’s ‘attacking football’ high up the pitch.

Micky is followed by Wolves’ Pedro Neto (36.86 km/hr) and Luton Town’s Chiedozie Ogbene (36.93 km/h). It is surprising to see Kyle Walker out of the list. Matheus Nunes is the fastest Sky Blues player with a top speed of 35.59 km/h.

Chelsea will face Liverpool in the EFL Cup final on 25th February. The battle looks one-sided already. Chelsea’s 4-1 loss against Liverpool in the Premier League further cements this fact.

It will be interesting to see if Raheem Sterling’s pace and Cole Palmer’s form can help the Blues ease past the favourites.
