Chelsea are all set to play at Wembley Stadium tomorrow

The Chelsea from London will face Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium in Carabao Cup finals on Sunday. This will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first chance of winning a silverware since taking over Chelsea in the summer.

Chelsea are going through a rough season in the league. Winning a silverware will change the perspective of fans on the project undergoing at the Bridge. It will also bring much-required confidence to the squad.

Mauricio Pochettino asks referee to be fair to Chelsea

Chris Kavanagh will be in charge of the Carabao Cup final. Mauricio Pochettino in his pre-match press conference has asked Chris Kavanagh for a fair game and not to get carried away with the emotion of this being Jurgen Klopp’s final year at Anfield Stadium and his long goodbyes.

The Argentine manager referenced Chelsea’s game against Liverpool at the end of January. Chelsea lost the game with a 4-1 margin with all the key referee decisions falling in Liverpool’s favour.

Pochettino didn’t say that his Chelsea were better than Liverpool. However, he did say that two “clear” penalties were not given to Chelsea and all the 50/50 decisions fell in Liverpool’s favor.

Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season.

This is what Mauricio Pochettino had to say in his pre-match press conference:

“I think we need to be sure we are going to compete and be fair in every single decision. When we played against Liverpool at Anfield, I think not one key decision was for us. Two penalties were not given. Duels, 50/50s, always for another colour. Always red. I want to be treated in a fair way.

“I am the first who is going to say that Liverpool is amazing and Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world. But I think after my last experience playing [at Anfield], what I want in Wembley is to play a game at the same level and the best team will win.

“[Liverpool] were better than us, of course. But the first decision after five minutes was a clear penalty. In the second half it was a penalty [on Christopher] Nkunku. We are Chelsea and we need to compete with the same tools. If they are better well done and we congratulate them, but be fair in every single decision. The pressure is about not delivering the job for Klopp, no, the pressure is not to be part of the [hype].”
