Journalist slams Chelsea star Conor Gallagher for modifying his kit in matches: “Enough of this nonsense”

Richard Keys blasts Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher for cutting his socks

Richard Keys hasn’t been impressed with Conor Gallagher’s antics with his kit. Keys has urged the midfielder to ‘smarten up’ and become an inspiration for young players ‘like Bobby Moore’ after the player cut holes in their socks.

Keys doesn’t like players cutting holes in their socks and has urged them to concentrate more on their performance instead of wanting to look aesthetically pleasing. But as long as they are not faring poorly then cutting their socks isn’t affecting anyone.

It all started with Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham cutting his socks, which led to La Liga banning such behaviours from the player, and now Keys has urged the Premier League players to avoid these things, (h/t Daily Mail) and said:

”Enough of this nonsense. There’s no need for it. The Spanish have outlawed it (although Bellingham gets away with it). It’s time we did. It’s got to stop. This weekend, Conor Gallagher resembled the poor lad who plays on Hackney Marshes every week and can’t afford a kit. You’re a professional man. Look professional.”

Let the players do what they want.

If that’s how they play the game, then as long as they’re not putting in subpar performances, it’s acceptable. Gallagher’s performance has been outstanding, and sock cutting promotes easy blood circulation. If players are finding holes in their socks, this may be the case.

Conor Gallagher has three goals this season for Chelsea.

It’s not too deep for you to start critiquing the player’s actions right now. If somebody has performed poorly, it is understandable that you are condemning their performance; nevertheless, making fun of other things is absurd. Football should not change; things like attire should remain the same.

Keys remarks are also poor, and sometimes his criticism doesn’t make sense. It feels like he personally hates Chelsea and makes unwanted digs at them. Let players do what they want, as long as they are performing on the pitch.
