Chelsea stars Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez delete their X accounts after receiving abuses

According to the Sun, Chelsea duo Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez deactivated their X accounts after receiving abuse due to their poor display against Liverpool at Anfield.

Social media is one of the most toxic platforms you will see in today’s generation, and if you are a sports player, then may the force be with you, given the amount of abuse they receive if they don’t perform well.

Chelsea were dismantled by the Reds 4-1, and it was one of the heaviest defeats in the Premier League this campaign, but unfortunately, Fernandez and Caicedo were made the scapegoats in that match.

The West Londoners broke their British transfer record to sign both midfielders, who have become key stars under Mauricio Pochettino, but when the team effort was poor, how can you expect only two players to carry their side?

Both are young and cannot alone lead their team, and the entire squad should be blamed for the defeat, not just two players, because it is unfair to target players individually. This is why social media is so toxic, they are young and cannot endure such abuse from those toxic fans who treat them like they are not humans or have families.

Given the amount Chelsea spent on Caicedo and Enzo, it’s evident they will be in the spotlight, and expectations will be high from them in every game, but you just cannot sit behind the screen and abuse them.

Chelsea expensive signing Moises Caicedo.

Their mental well-being is impacted, and they had to delete their X accounts because they had reached their breaking point and were unable to handle the abuse they might have been subjected to. Dealing with such poisonous fans is not unique to them; there are other players as well. Bravo to those who maintain their sanity.

Hopefully, Caicedo and Enzo will deliver a top-class performance against the Wolves and shut down those toxic fans because abuse in football is never allowed. Good times come and go and it is impetrative that the players donning our colours know we have their back.
