Chelsea could loan Andrey Santos to Strasbourg

Brazilian teenager Andrey Santos is once again on the move from Chelsea, and talks are underway for a potential loan move to Strasbourg. The midfielder was previously recalled early from a loan spell with Nottingham Forest due to a lack of playing time.

Chelsea, using Strasbourg as a feeder club to aid in the development of their young talents, own the French side. Andrey Santos joined Chelsea in January last year after gaining attention for his impressive performances at the U-20 World Cup. Despite a promising start, his loan spell at Nottingham Forest saw minimal game time, leading to his early return to Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old midfielder earned his first senior cap for Brazil last year in a match against Morocco. Now, discussions are progressing for a potential loan move to Strasbourg for the remainder of the season. However, for the move to be finalised, Chelsea would need to end one of their current seven international loans.

Chelsea could loan Andrey Santos to Strasbourg.

That is as per EuroSport via The Sun. Chelsea currently see themselves restricted to domestic loans as they have reached the overseas threshold. The list of their international loanees includes Hakim Ziyech at Galatasaray, Kepa Arrizabalaga at Real Madrid, Romelu Lukaku at Roma, Gabriel Slonina at Eupen, David Fofana at Union Berlin, Angelo Gabriel at Strasbourg, and Diego Moreira at Lyon.

Santos to Strasbourg?

Santos impressed Pochettino during the pre-season tours in the USA, but since then, game-time has been hard to come by for the 19-year-old defensive midfielder. While Santos’ earlier stint at Nottingham Forest might not have yielded the desired playing time, the ongoing discussions for a loan move to Strasbourg could help him find the right platform for his growth.

The ultimate goal for Chelsea is not only to develop individual talents like Santos but also to create a pathway for them to potentially contribute to the first-team squad in the future.

Andrey Santos has the potential to become a key player for Chelsea in the future.

While the outcome of Santos’ potential loan to Strasbourg remains uncertain, it becomes important for the Blues to act quickly in the face of time-bound restrictions on deadline day.
