Chelsea have taken to X to congratulate their starlets Samantha Kerr and Lauren James for earning places in the 2023 FIFA FIFRO Women’s World 11. The Best Awards took place yesterday where top men’s and women’s talents were awarded.
The women’s awards were adjudged based on players’ performance from August 1, 2022, to August 20, 2023. Sam Kerr and Lauren James were pivotal in helping the Chelsea women’s team lift the WSL 2022/23 trophy.
James scored seven goals throughout the season and Sam Kerr had registered three assists by the end of the season. They both are continuing their fine run in the current season as well.
Lauren James has amassed seven goals and one assist from nine games. Whereas Samantha Kerr has four goals and three assists from eight games. Both the Chelsea stars joined a star-studded line-up and earned praises from fans from all around the world.

Defenders: Alex Greenwood, Lucy Bronze, Olga Carmona
Midfielders: Aitana Bonmati, Ella Toone, Keira Walsh
Forwards: Alex Morgan, Alessia Russo, Lauren James, Samantha Kerr
Barcelona Femini star Aitana Bonmati collected The Best Women’s Player Award. She was also Spain’s key player in their World Cup-winning campaign. Manchester United’s Mary Earps won the Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award. It is her second accolade.
England manager Sarina Wiegman bagged The Best Women’s Coach. She has won the award a record fourth time. Wiegman is also the only manager to have won the award more than once.
Lionel Messi (without any surprise) won The Best Men’s Player Award beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the process.
