Cesare Casadei returns to Chelsea after ending his loan spell at Leicester City with three goals

Fabrizio Romano reveals the reason why Chelsea decided to call Cesare Casadei back to the club, as he has huge potential to become one of the most promising midfielders at the club.

He is set to start training at the club and could be employed in Chelsea’s next game against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-final. But Casadei’s return to the club could see him get fewer minutes on the pitch as he could be used as a backup midfielder.

The Italian midfielder was loaned to the Championship side for the entire season, and the midfielder has recorded three goals for Leicester in 22 matches. For the majority of the games, he has been played as a substitute and has made an instant impact coming off the bench.

The Blues are short on midfielders after injuries to Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu, while Carney Chukwuemeka has recently returned from a long-term injury. Pochettino has frequently employed Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo.

However, Gallagher’s future is undetermined because the team wants to sell him to generate some cash, possibly in January or the summer of next year. The Blues’ decision to bring back Casadei, who has impressed Mauricio Pochettino during his first half at Leicester, may have been motivated by a lack of depth in the midfield.

Similar to how he improved Gallagher’s game under him, the Argentine will be ready to help Casadei in coming up. Casadei is incredibly gifted, fast to pick things up, and should have enough Premier League experience by the next season.

Casadei is a versatile player and can function as 6, 2, 6, 8, and 10. He can even operate as a striker, as we saw after he finished as the top scorer in the U20 FIFA World Cup and also received Player of the Tournament.

The only downside would be that he is going to get less game time at the club. Pochettino will hopefully manage his game time and prepare him for next season. He was getting into the groove at Leicester, and hopefully, the amount of experience he has accumulated will be put to the test when he gets the chance to play for the club in the second half of the season.
