Chelsea target Kylian Mbappe can now sign pre-contract with different club

The drama surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s move is still ongoing, leaving interested teams uncertain about what the French star will decide when he becomes a free agent in June.

The 25-year-old can now hold talks with others over the potential move and sign a pre-contract agreement as he enters the final six months of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

Whichever club Mbappe goes to, it will be one of the biggest transfers given the player’s status in modern football. Despite Real Madrid being clear favourites, there have also been English clubs mentioned that want to acquire his services.

The Gunners and Chelsea are among the clubs that have sounded out their interest. But for the Blues, it seems unlikely they would want him given his massive salary, and the club already has plenty of players operating in his position.

However, the former AS Monaco star has provided a coy reply on his future and isn’t getting ahead of himself, (h/t Football.London), said:

“I haven’t made any decisions about my future. I didn’t make a choice. Nobody talks about my situation inside the club; it’s not a topic.”

Should Chelsea sign Mbappé?

Chelsea can sign him, but since the Premier League forbids clubs from offering players contracts longer than five years, the team—owned by Todd Boehly—will have financial difficulties. We could have signed him and distributed his compensation throughout his long-term contract if there had been no restriction.

Right now, it appears challenging since to turn a profit, we must first offload some players. After all, we spent a lot of money last summer as well. A player may be sold if we wish to sign Mbappe because other players like Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, and Mykhaylo Mudryk play in the Mbappe position.

Conclusion: Chelsea are well without Mbappe, and they are doing great; it is not necessary to sign him.
